Performance Blade Housing, Threaded Pin

A Smart Track Foil Rudder Blade must be used with this housing.

The Smart Track Threaded Long Pin top mount blade housing installs on kayaks with an extension bracket or a vertical hole molded all the way through the rear of the kayak. This Smart Track product has a threaded pin and nut, common on European kayaks. The pin is similar to that used with the now discontinued Yakima rudder (photo below).

Typical examples of boats in North America with a vertical hole include most Perception and Dagger kayaks. The Smart Track Long Pin and Threaded Pin (both nearly identical) will also fit the rudder bracket known as the Chinook casting, common on many Aquaterra kayaks.

 

Pin is 3 1/8 inches long and must have atleast 1/4 inch of the end exposed for the nut. The threaded section is one inch long. It might be cut down to fit the Current Designs Kestral 140 OC (the regular long pin might also be cut to fit this kayak).

This Smart Track blade housing is Teflon coated 6061-T6 extruded alloy is extremely rugged and corrosion proof. Includes instructions and all hardware for this housing.

This product is the substitute for the 300386 rudder assembly. This Smart Track housing may be retrofitted with a longer pin to mount onto the Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro. Any of the Smart Track pin versions can also be retrofit with a longer pin to mount onto some older Ocean Kayak models. You will have to source your own longer pin for these rare kayaks. Exact pin dimensions of these old kayaks are unknown. LPRDR
